Proceeds of residents of the Autonomous Republic of Achara, Georgia, in the aftermath of the 209 citrus season have equaled 100m GEL, President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili said during his visit in Achara on February 7.
Georgia has exported total of 80 000 tons of citrus this season, the President said.
“There have never been such good vintage in Georgia as in 2009 and we have never conducted such valuable citrus crops as in 2009. This means that Georgian agricultural food products can be sold despite the world economic crisis. The Government has managed this through organized activities”, Saakashvili said.
Citrus was exported to nine markets in 2009. Ukraine is leader in Georgia’s citrus exports with 80 percent.
President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili awarded members of the Kobuleti District Board and enterprises with orders on February 7.
