Wine Exports in January-May 2010 Records 57 percent Rise Year on Year

The Georgian wine exports in January-May 2010 showed a 57 percent growth compared to the same period of 23009.

In the reporting period the country exported 5 002 765 bottles of Georgian wine to 30 countries, while the figure recorded 3 166 583 bottles in the same period of 2009.

Ukraine leads in Georgian wine exports with a 49 percent share. In the reporting period Georgia exported 2 457 563 bottles, up 200 percent year on year.

The Georgian wine exports also increased in Kazakhstan. In the reporting period the country exported 855 604 bottles to Kazakhstan, while the figure marked 360 742 bottles in the same period of 2009.

Georgian wine exports dropped by 28 793 bottles in January-May 2010 to 338 944 bottles.

Poland ranks fourth with 250 628 bottles (240 774 bottles in January-May 2009); Latvia ranks fifth with 231 132 bottles (January-May 2009). Lithuania ranks sixth with 191 412 bottles (119 148 bottles in January-May 2009). The USA ranks seventh with 124 384 bottles (94 103 bottles in January-May 2009); Azerbaijan ranks eighth with 106 038 bottles (82 584 bottle in January-May 2009); Germany ranks ninth with 68 480 bottles (76 598 bottles in January-May 209); Estonia ranks tenth with 63 156 bottles (119 184 bottles in January-May 2009).
