Georgian Football Federation to Privatize Six State-owned Football Clubs for Symbol Price

Six state-owned football clubs will be handed over to private companies for a symbol price of 1 GEL.

The Georgian Football Federation (GFF) told GBC the issue is of FCs in the upper league. GFF handed over Kutaisi Torpedo FC to Wissol company a month ago as part of a pilot program.

Negotiations are underway with Geocell and SOCAR on privatization of Olimpi and Bolnisi Sioni FCs. The GFF executive board will discuss the issue on July 15.

Investors are obliged to develop the FC infrastructure and base. Moreover, the new owners are banned to change the asset profile.
