Georgia Offers Kazakhstan to Halve Grain Export Costs, says Georgian Railway Head

Kazakhstan is able to save the half amount of the costs if the country carries out grain exports to Egypt through Georgia, Irakli Ezugbaia, the head of Georgian Railway, told reporters at the Egypt-Georgia Business Forum in Egypt on January 20.

“At this stage, Kazakhstan exports grain to Egypt via the Russian Federation. Therefore, Georgia offers Kazakhstan to export grain to Egypt via Georgia for the half amount of the current costs”, Ezugbaia noted.

The Georgian state budget will receive supplementary revenues through exporting Kazakh grain to Egypt. “Moreover, Georgian seaports will organize suitable infrastructure and additional job places will be created”, Ezugbaia noted.

As reported, Kazakhstan plans to export 1.5m tons of grain to Egypt in 2010.
